Embellish Me with Quilling BLOG HOP!!!!

Welcome to the "Embellish Me with Quilling" Blog Hop!!!

If you have arrived here from the Super Talented Trish then you are on the right track. If you have stumbled upon this hop out of order you can visit the Amazing Momo to start at the beginning. Remember to visit all of the ladies on the hop so you can see all the wonderful Quilled projects and take part in this exciting unique blog hop with us!

I am Quiller though I don't quill for every card. It is a hobby I enjoy and find relaxing and challenging. I love to quill while watching television and I especially love the look of quilled accents. It is also really easy, anyone could do it!

So...for my project I decided to make a card for my co-worker who is retiring. We have worked together for 40 hours a week for 8 full years and it is going to be sad to see her move on, but I am very happy for her. So I wanted to make her a unique hand made card to give her before she goes. Here is the first picture:

I made a 5.5x5.5 gate fold card. I found this pretty printed paper at AC Moore and it is thick like card stock. I just loved the print on it and the blend of colors wasn't anything I would normally pair together but it was so pretty. I also needed to make a hand made envelope to complete the package. I used my Martha Stewart Score Board and made it using the directions for the 6" square. I adhered some of my patterned paper to the back flap to make it pretty. I also added some papers on the front and used some acrylic stamps to stamp her name. I love how this turned out.

Another thing I love about quilling is the dimension it gives. Also it is super cheap to do. Just a few strips of paper and some Elmer's Craft Bond Glue and a slotted tool and off you go! I made this pretty quilled flower for the front of her card and then added some pink gems in between each petal for an added accent. I glued the yellow flower center on top of the petals and added a pink gem to that too! I think she is going to love this!

For the inside of the card I wanted it to have all the same pretty papers. I created a pocket that I could put some papers in to write her note. This way I can write a lot if I want to. I cut 4 sheets to slide into the pocket, alternating with the pink and the yellow. I liked this idea because if she wants to show the card to others, and doesn't want them to read the message I write, she can just take the sheets out. It also is just something different. I put my sentiment inside, because there wasn't a good place to put it outside. I am definitely going to miss her but I am happy for her. She has worked for nearly 47 years at the same organization. I think she deserves it! And you really can't ask for anything nicer in a card than something made with love just for you!

So...how about some: BLOG CANDY NOW!!!

For my giveaway I am offering a set of 4 Quilled Cards that I made using all the same papers as my project for the hop! How awesome is that!!! I used the same design for all of the cards but I changed the sentiment using the new Scrappy Moms Stamps "Simple Sentiments" which are awesome. So you have 4 cards to use for those you love for all different reasons!

To qualify for a chance to win these cards I just ask that you be a follower of my website and also leave me a comment on this post only and tell me how you enjoyed my project and if you currently enjoy quilling yourself or if you think you will try quilling after experiencing this hop.

Make sure you leave me an email address to contact you if you are the winner. The winner will be drawn at random on Monday night!!!

Thank you so very much for hopping by and sharing in this unique event with all of us! If you haven't ever been to my blog before I do hope you will stay and be a follower. I post several times a week, sometimes more than once a day and I try to offer much inspiration to you all!

Your next stop on the blog is the Super Famous Emma!!! Have fun on the rest of your hop!

Your card is wonderful. I did some quilling as a child in school for an art project. But have not done it since. I really do love it, though.
