Happy Birthday Purple Spinning Butterfly Card

So...this morning I was relaxing in bed and watching videos on other card makers blogs that I enjoy. I saw the most fantastic idea on Techniques by Trish, a spinner card. She was making hers with an elephant that slid and spun, but I decided to experiment with something else. So far I have made three of these style cards, the other two will be posted in the near future. I decided to first post the purple one because purple is my favorite color.

On her video she shows how easy this is with a punch she has, but I didn't have the punch or an exacto knife. I just did mine with my rotary trimmer to make the 1/4 inch slit and it works just fine. I used dimes on this card because I wondered if it would help it from being raised up quite so much and I don't think it makes a very big difference so I will stick with pennies in the future.

I used my Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch with this purple glitter paper. The smaller butterfly is also her smaller punch. It looks fantastic with the glittery paper. So pretty. I accented the card with bling, alternating gemstones and pearls. The stamp was done using purple staz on ink. And then finally the last touch was the white stitching around the card. Inside is lined with white paper as well as a little glittery butterfly too!

So to move this card you just hold it and tilt it slightly and the butterfly spins its way to the other end and then spins its way back. Magic!

Thanks for the amazing tutorial Trish, I am going to be making this type of card often!
